TRICKS:

Here today gone tomorrow

Setting:

Audience comes in and sees a white piece of paper laying flat on the table. An empty glass that is upside down on the paper. The section of newspaper laying flat on the table.

Performance:
Welcome to our magic table. As you can see we have an empty glass, a newspaper and you. Now I need for someone to take a coin out of their pocket and place it on the paper.

( As someone places a coin on the table you say, "Good".)  I would like to point out  a section of today's newspaper called the obit or the obituary section. People who were here yesterday but gone today.

( You pick up the newspaper that shows all the people young and old who died. ) No one in this paper expected to die but they did. Every day we can see in the obituaries that people just like you and me die. Babies to old people, it is a fact we all die someday.

This coin ( turn it over and over as you speak ) will represent you and I. It is here right now before us and with us. We see it, we can touch it. Money has value and so does a life. You can buy a lot of things with money but you can not buy one second more of life than what you have been given. When a person dies no matter how much money they had, there money can not bring them back to life.

I will illustrate.   I will take today's obituary and form a cone or funnel.

I will now take the paper cone and place if over the empty glass. I will give you one more look and touch of the coin and in a few seconds I will transport that coin across the room with out ever leaving this spot.

Please place the coin back on the paper. Thank you. Now watch as I say the words "Here today, Gone Tomorrow"
Let us all say that phrase out loud three times.

( Everyone shouts it out as you place the cone with the empty glass in side over the coin.

(Be careful not to expose the bottom of the glass as you can see in the picture, You tilt the glass toward the audience and only you can see the bottom of the glass.

After the third time of saying "Here today, Gone Tomorrow" you say. Like life, we are here today but we could be gone tomorrow. There are no guarantees that you will be here tomorrow.

As you remove the cone you leave the glass behind and to everyone's amazement the coin is gone.

You then point across the room to an object and ask someone in the room to go over and lift up the object.

To everyone's surprise the coin is there.

You then ask them to bring the coin back to you and place the coin in your hand.

Now you say, We die we leave this world and wind up somewhere else. ( If your doing the gospel you can talk about accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and going to Heaven. )

You now place the cone back over the empty glass, you vanish the coin. (You vanish the coin from your hand using what ever method you like to do best for coin vanishes. )

You now place the paper cone back over the empty glass and lift the cone with the glass inside revealing that the coin is now back on the table.

You ask someone to pick the coin up an examine it and as they do you say " Everyone that is born will die. Here today, gone tomorrow. Through Jesus Christ we can be ready for that day and as the coin magically moved from the table to the other side of the room so we will be moved from this world into the world of God to come.

You would then give the invitation for them to take Christ into their hearts.

Be sure to remove the glass from the table as soon as possible.

Preparations and secrets:
Secret is that the paper covers the coin that is on the paper that is laying on the table.

1. Glue a piece of paper to the opening of the glass that matches the paper that is on the table.

2. Hide a penny, nickel, dime and quarter in different placed around the room from left to right in the order of value.

Penny to your far left, nickel to center left, dime to center right and quarter to far right in the room under different objects.

If the spectator pulls out a penny then you will tell them what object to pick up and your penny will be their. This is similar to the magicians force.

Same with other coins. Silly, but it works. Now just go through the routine. You will have fun with this one.

The real magic is always the story! The magic prop just reinforces the effect.
